A Meal & More
Soup Kitchen

Our Mission is to provide hunger relief

We have in-room dining with limited seating (distancing). We are also serving takeout to those uncomfortable with in-room dining.

  • A Meal and More is a soup kitchen that serves free, hot, nutritious midday meals to people in need every Wednesday and Sunday. Our serving times are 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesdays, and 1:15 to 2:30 pm on Sundays.
  • Location: Christ Church Rochester, 141 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607.
  • A Meal and More began in 1979. We typically serve 60 to 90 guests at each meal.
  • When needed, A Meal and More staff and volunteers will refer guests to other agencies for emergency shelter, public assistance, or job opportunities.
  • All who are in need of a meal are welcomed without regard to race, gender, age, religion, or income.

News

A thank you to Mary Ellen West and her family for providing 35 bag lunches on a May Sunday. They also did this a few times last year. We sincerely appreciate this most generous gift!

In 2022, we served 10,405 meals. That is one of our highest years ever in terms of meals served and was 465 more than 2021.

As of May 31, the number of meals served year to date in 2023 is more than 900 more than in 2022 at the same time.

Recently we have received some generous equipment gifts. Mrs. H.P. Clark gave us a meat slicer. Mary Ann Hrankowski donated a Cuisinart and a food processor. Pete Rothfuss provided a microwave.
