Our Mission is to provide hunger relief. We have been serving people in need since 1979. With the help of a retired professional chef and many volunteers we serve, free of charge, hot, well-balanced, nutritious meals to as many as 100 or more guests every Wednesday and Sunday in a safe, inviting and clean environment. Guests include the homeless, disabled, unemployed, elderly, children and anyone needing a helping hand at this time in their lives. In addition to a hot meal we also offer clothing and personal care supplies. At Christmas, guests receive a gift bag with necessary items. We also offer our guests moral support and encouragement in coping with their situations. We may refer them to other agencies for emergency shelter, public assistance or job opportunities, and we give them a list of additional soup kitchens in the Rochester area. Since 1984 when we incorporated and began keeping records, A Meal & More has served over 150,000 meals. Initially we served the elderly in the Christ Church neighborhood in downtown Rochester. The program soon expanded to include anyone in need of a meal.
We welcome all who come to us for assistance without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, handicap or income!
